A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz
Reviewed By: N.B.
Join Hansel and Gretel on a dangerous path to the dark story of their grimm tale, where both must face the truth on what lays ahead. Facing witches, warlocks, and a creepy children eating moon (yes, the moon eats children in this story!) Hansel and Gretel travel through various lands and frightening places never heard of. This book is also a tale of sacrifice that no adult would ever try to cross, and learning the darkest secrets within ones heart and the lies of one's head
But be warned...this tale is not what was once told, but the very true fact of what really happened!
Why I Picked it Up: I really didn't pick it up, it was thrown to me (and pretty much hit me) by a friend who fell in love with the book and told me to read it. Plus, it looked interesting and I love stories of fairy tales, and the dark version of this seemed very interesting...so why not?
Why I Finished It: I finished it because it was a huge page turner and I wanted to know what came next, what would happen to the character or how was that even possible? It also gave me a different picture on Hansel and Gretel the classical tale I was told as a child.
I’d Give this Book To: I recommend this to anyone who loves fairy tales, but also action and very gross but detailed descriptions of the books events. This book is a real page turner plus its very short and easy to read (hopefully). It is also for anyone who enjoys a good brother and sister tale.
