Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Reviewed By: T.K.
This book takes you on an adventure that you’ve never experienced before. After a tragic incident, Jacob decides to jump on the next boat too his grandfather’s childhood. Literally. The exploration is far from peculiar when he discovers the land his grandfather had grown up in. Not much population, including the fish, and weird monsters that turned into a museum’s display attraction. There he follows his grandfather’s last words to save them. Who? Jacob takes the journey too far when he sees the old orphanage his grandfather grew up in and often told Jacob about it when he was just a child. He runs into an odd girl who calls him by his grandfather’s name and when she finally realizes it’s not him she dashes off into the thick fog. Why I Picked it Up: I got interested when my English teacher started to read this book to us. Our class never got to finish it unfortunately. So I decided to not leave the book hanging and give it a try.
Why I Finished It: I finished it because it has all types of genres mixed in it. Also it has a twist like no other book I have read.
I’d Give this Book To: I would recommend this too an age that is between 9 and up. Also anyone that has an interest in the romance or scientific genres.

**Librarian Side Note** Like the reviewer, I too thought this book was like no other book I had read. The best part?? This is actually book 1 in a series, and yes, the second book is out and available to check out at the Library! Woo Hoo! If nothing else, you need to pick up the book to check out the pictures. The pictures in the book are REAL, and the author found them first, then based the book and characters in the book around these found photographs! What a great idea for writing a book!
