The Madness Underneath by Maureen Johnson

Rory is back...well, sort of. This book picks up just a few weeks after the ending of the first book (check out the review from March 28). Even more alone than ever, Rory is stuck in Bristol with her parents while she recovers from her attack. Separated from the few friends she made while at Wexford and from her new group of top secret government buddies, she is totally alone and going crazy not being able to talk to anyone about what really happened to her. Eventually her government ties come through for her and she gets the opportunity to back to Wexford and attempt to slide back into regular life, whatever that is! Oh yeah, one catch...Rory can now eradicate ghosts with just her touch. As she learns more about her new abilities, she struggles with school and trying to live a "normal" life. Will Rory ever be able to fit in again? Will she figure out what the deal is with the crack in the ground that keeps popping up every time she runs into a ghost? Read the book to find out!
Why I Picked it Up: I have been waiting for this book FOREVER! It finally came out, and I was not disappointed.
Why I Finished It: I read some reviews on GoodReads about the crazy ending, so I couldn't wait to get to the end...and WOW! It's like the author finally gives you what you want only to snatch it away in the last chapter! I cannot wait for the next book!
I’d Give this Book To: If you like paranormal books about ghosts and books that have crazy endings, then this is the book for you!
**Librarian Side Note** After listening to this book, I totally agree with the review. You will not believe the ending!! Now to settle in for the wait for book 3...
