Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Reviewed By: A.C.
This is the On The Same Page book that the library is currently doing, AND this book is on the 2014 Abe Lincoln list so it must be good. The Night Circus takes place in 19th century everywhere, a traveling circus that appears without warning, is only open after dark, and mystifies the audience into silence. But behind the magic that usually comes with a circus is real magic. A stage set at 7 years old, 2 magicians must out-magic each other until one dies. This is a challenge, a game of chess for the fun of their fathers. The circus is their stage for where there is a circus there must be magic and mystery.
Why I Picked it Up: It was on the Abe Lincoln list and then i saw it was the On The Same Page book and I knew I had to read it. I finished it in a day.
Why I Finished It: It was so captivating, like time stood still while i was reading it and when i finished it released it's hold on me.
I’d Give this Book To: Anyone who enjoys a mystery, a circus, or a plain old-fashioned duel of wits.
**Librarian Side Note** If you get a chance, I highly recommend the audio book. I know I can sound like a broken record on the audio books, but the reader, Jim Dale, is the same guy who read the Harry Potter series. Check it out! We have the book on CD, the Playaway, and the downloadable audio book.
