The Pregnancy Project by Gaby Rodriguez
Reviewed By: M.S.
Gaby Rodriguez is your typical senior in high school, so it seems, but she's actually quite different. She lives in a home where everybody in her family is a teen mom or dad...giving her the stereotype of becoming one herself, it's basically a family tradition. Gaby though, doesn't see that in her future, she wants to be the first child to actually go to college and make her family proud, though people still don't see it happen. So for her senior project she decides to fake her own pregnancy and see how would she be treated if she “lived down” to others' expectations. Would everyone ignore the years she put into being a great student and see her as just another pregnant teen statistic with no future? This book gives you insight in her journey, the ups and downs, as she went through her senior year as a "pregnant" teen, and how it changed the rest of her life. Her quote in the book says, "I pretended to be pregnant as a high school senior and learned the meaning of family, friends, and living beyond stereotypes."
Why I Picked It Up: The cover got me right away. Pregnancy project? Someone made a project out of this? The curiosity struck me so hard I had to check it out and find out hat this is all about.
Why I Finished It: Normally I don't care for nonfiction books, but this book is so hard not to finish. I literally couldn't stop reading it, it was just that good.
I’d Give this Book To: Really everyone who wants to read a very interesting and inspiring story!!
