Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper

Reviewed By: A.T.
I am blown away by this book. The main character, Melody, is a young girl with Cerebral Palsy who is basically trapped inside her mind. She has spent her whole life listening to people talk at her, talk to her, and try to get her to interact with them, but unfortunately because of her genetic condition, Melody can't talk back. That does not mean, however, that Melody doesn't have anything to say. This book is all about what Melody has to say, and how she finally manages to get a word in!
Why I Picked it Up: It's a Caudill nominee for 2013.
Why I Finished It: I seriously could not put it down! Don't be fooled by the size of the book, because it is a quick read. You won't want to put it down, and you will want to know what happens to Melody.
I’d Give this Book To: Anyone! This is a well written, engaging book that anyone from 5th grade through 50 years old (or older!) could read and learn something from it. FANTASTIC!!
