The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Reviewed By: S.
Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, is accused of stealing Zeus's powerful lightning bolt. At a school field trip to the museum, Percy's math teacher, Mrs.Dodds, leads Percy into a private room and turns into a Fury. Chrion, a centaur, appears and kills the Fury and tells Percy that all the Greek gods and goddesses are actually real, and Percy's dad is actually a Greek god. Then, Chrion gives Percy a ballpoint pen which turns into a Celestial bronze sword named Riptide. On their way to Camp Half-Blood, Hades, god of the Underworld, sends the Minotaur to capture Percy's mom and hold her prisoner until Percy gives the bolt to him. Well, Hades succeeds in capturing Sally Jackson, but the Minotaur doesn't exactly work out. And remember, in this book he is only 12!  To find out more, read the series!
Why I Picked it Up: My friends said that it was better than Harry Potter.
Why I Finished It: It was better than Harry Potter and I loved the action.
I’d Give this Book To: Anyone who likes action, adventure, and modern history.
